POSITION OBJECTIVE

Incumbents in this classification perform a variety of duties in a library or computer lab setting, in accordance with 21st century teaching and learning skills.   Duties include:  maintaining facility and equipment; tracking, preparing, receiving, and maintaining inventory of library and instructional equipment and supplies; instructing students and teachers on use and availability of library and instructional resources; documenting and reporting of activities; providing support regarding IT related issues and problems, and monitoring student use and behavior.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: (These duties are a representative sample; position assignments may vary.)

  1. Assists students, teachers, staff, and administrators on facility use and availability of digital and physical library and instructional resources.
  2. Collaborates with teachers regarding student instruction and supervision while utilizing equipment and resources in assigned area of responsibility.
  3. Maintains master calendar used to reserve time in assigned area of responsibility.
  4. Prepares and maintains records related to the utilization of the facilities and activities in assigned area of responsibility.
  5.  Manages and maintains supplies and inventory of library and instructional resources utilizing the district’s standard library management software. 
  6. Maintains the library catalog; ordering, processing, cataloging, and weeding materials to best meet the needs of students and teachers.
  7. Administers or assists with the Accelerated Reader program, if utilized at the site.
  8. Coordinates the repair and/or maintenance of library and instructional equipment.
  9. Conducts activities related to information and digital literacy and reader engagement.
  10. Manages budget expenditures for library materials.
  11. Ensures all students and staff have required functioning personal technology and curriculum materials, accounted for in the library management software.
  12. Provides technical support, customer service, and on-site assistance to school administration, staff, students, and parents.
  13. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: (positions in this class typically require):

High School Diploma or G.E.D., and one year of educational, computer, library, or clerical experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

 

KNOWLEDGE: (position requirements at entry):

  • Principles and practices in assigned area of responsibility.
  • Report preparation methods
  • Customer service principles
  • Organizational management principles.

 

SKILLS: (position requirements at entry):

Skill in:

·       Providing customer service.

·       Preparing and maintaining reports and records.

·       Instructing users in the use of facilities and equipment in assigned area of responsibility.

·       Maintaining inventory and supplies.

·       Maintaining schedules.

·        A functional knowledge of PC applications and the Google platform; Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, students, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

 

Medium Work: Exerting up to  50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Return To Work Retirees will be paid at ninety percent (90%) of the posted range.
