This posting is for Student Teacher only.  All Student Teachers must be approved through SUSD.  

SUSD will assist student teachers  who meet required licensing requirements, background and reference checks with obtaining an Emergency Substitute Certification through the Arizona Department of Education. Emergency Substitute Certifications are valid for two school years.  

 

PAY GRADE: $146/Day

FLSA   STATUS:   Non-Exempt

POSITION OBJECTIVE:   

Managing student learning, in the absence of the regular teacher in accordance with the goals and directives of the District.

 

DUTIES   & RESPONSIBILITIES:   (These duties are a representative sample; position assignments may vary.)

The minimum performance expectations include but are not limited to the following:

  •   Maintains a positive learning environment for all students and a professional relationship with all staff in accordance with district policy.
  •   Ensures adequate supervision to assure health, welfare, and safety of all students.
  •   Implements lesson plans, while ensuring the integrity of academic time and in a manner which motivates   students to learn and participate.

 

EDUCATION   & EXPERIENCE:   (positions in this class typically require):

  •   One year of teaching experience is preferred.

 

LICENSING   REQUIREMENTS:   (positions in this class typically require):

Licensing Requirements:

  •  Offical high school transcripts documenting graduation from high school;or 
  • A photocopy of yur high school diploma; or
  • A photocopy of your GED cetificate;or
  • Offical trascrpts froma college or university documenting as Associate's degree
  • Valid Fingerprint Clearance Card. 

 

Special Requirements:

  •   Candidate must be at least 21 years of   age.
  •   Candidate must attend an orientation session.
  •   Candidate must agree to authorize Scottsdale Unified School District to conduct a Criminal Background check.
  • Candidate must be able to provide 3 professional references with at least 1 being a supervisor

 

KNOWLEDGE: (position   requirements at entry):

Knowledge   of:

  •   Must be able to follow oral and written directions and have the ability to establish effective working   relationships with staff and students.
  •   Candidate must have the ability to maintain effective classroom management strategies.

 

SKILLS: (position   requirements at entry):

Skill in:

  •   Effective communication skills.
  •   Must possess good moral character.
  • Must possess basic computer skills and abilities.

 

PHYSICAL   REQUIREMENTS

Positions in this class typically require: reaching, finger dexterity, and grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and   repetitive motions.

 

Duties performed typically in school settings to include: classrooms, gymnasium, cafeteria, auditorium, and recreational areas. Frequent walking, standing, stooping, lifting, up to approximately 30   pounds and occasional lifting of equipment and/or materials weighing up to 40 pounds may be required. Other physical activities may be required. Occasional   travel with students on field trips may be necessary. Vocal communication is   required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels;   visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer   data, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing   general surroundings and activities; the worker is subject to inside and   outside environmental conditions, noise and hazards. Occasional movement of   students by wheelchairs and other mechanical devices may be required. Regular   Instruction to special needs children may be necessary. Daily personal and   close contact with children to provide classroom management and learning environment support is required on assigned days. Regular contact with other staff members and building administrator(s) is required on assigned days as a substitute.
