POSITION OBJECTIVE

This is the top fiscal support and paraprofessional class that requires incumbents to have specialized knowledge in the area of assignment.  Incumbents are responsible for monitoring, oversight, and some decisions related to the operations in their areas.  Performs reconciliations, researches and troubleshoots problems.  Analyzes operations under their area of expertise and makes recommendations for operational changes to management.  Assists in developing policy and procedural changes.  Acts as a lead by providing guidance, training, and serving as a mentor to subordinates in assigned area.  Contributes substantially to subordinate evaluations.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: (These duties are a representative sample; position assignments may vary.)

  1. Serves as a lead to lower level staff, which may include: prioritizing and assigning work; monitoring the performance of lower level staff; training staff on work methods and procedures; and, participating in performance evaluations.
  2. Receives and processes a variety of transactions, forms, data, fixed assets, and/or information in assigned area of responsibility; researches and resolves discrepancies and/or erroneous information.
  3. Verifies monitors, analyzes, and reconciles financial information for an assigned area.  Performs journal entries for the purpose of classifying expenses, revenues, assets, and/or liabilities.
  4. Creates reviews, analyzes, interprets, and maintains a variety of records, systems, and logs.
  5. Reviews and analyzes the tactical day-to-day operational activities in assigned area of responsibility and makes recommendations for operational changes that are intended to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of operations.
  6. Performs routine office activities, which may include: making copies; filing; sorting, opening, and distributing mail; entering information into a database; faxing documents; and, performing other related activities.
  7. Assists in interpreting and applying policies, procedures, laws and regulations.
  8. Assists customers, vendors, and employees with requests for information over the phone and in person; researches and resolves complex and difficult discrepancies and/or erroneous data.
  9. Prepares a variety of reports and/or statistical data with information obtained from databases and/or spreadsheets.
  10. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: (positions in this class typically require):

Associate’s Degree in accounting, bookkeeping or related field, and five years of progressively responsible accounting experience, preferably directly related to the area of assignment; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, walking, finger dexterity, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

 

Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.  If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work.

Return To Work Retirees will have an hourly rate approximately 9% lower than listed below without falling below minimum wage.
