POSITION OBJECTIVE

This is a specialized administrative class that requires incumbents to have functional knowledge in multiple Human Resources areas.  Incumbents are responsible for processing and providing routine benefits information for employees, preparing and monitoring human resources related reports, administering recruitment procedures, and maintaining data.  Incumbents are required to understand and use limited discretion in applying laws, rules, regulations and policies.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: (These duties are a representative sample; position assignments may vary.)

 

  1. Reviews and processes personnel actions related to employment, contracts, and personnel information changes; tracks employees on leave status; enters and updates information in a database.
  2. Responds to requests for information from employees and/or the general public over the phone, in person, and via e-mail regarding a variety of Human Resources procedures, programs, job opportunities, and/or other related information.
  3. Completes background checks and employment verifications utilizing standard procedures.
  4. Prepares and maintains a variety of correspondence, notices, files, records, and/or other related information.
  5. Schedules employees, applicants, and /or other applicable individuals for examinations, orientation sessions, training sessions, and/or other related activities.
  6. Prepares, processes, and maintains a variety of activity logs, contracts, timesheets, and/or other related items related to assigned area of responsibility.
  7. Coordinates employment process for substitute teachers for the purpose of complying with all district, state, and federal regulations.
  8. Responds to inquiries of staff and the public for the purpose of disseminating information on substitute employment positions and providing direction as may be required.
  9. Trains substitutes on the use of the automated computer system for the purpose of responding to staff requests.
  10. Interpret FMLA regulations and develop positive relationships with payroll staff, benefits staff and employees.
  11. Administer District Leave of Absence programs., accourding to the plan documents and state and federal regulatory requirements, including but not limited to medical, FMLA, STD, LTD, military and unpaid leaves.
  12. Process all leave of absence paperwork in a timely manner including determining leave type, approve and deny FMLA requests, calculate and monitor leave durations and coordinate return to work.
  13. Send leave of absence information and FMLA documentation to employee, benefits staff, payroll and vendors.
  14. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: (positions in this class typically require):

High School Diploma, or G.E.D., and four years of human resources experience, OR Associate’s Degree and two years of human resources experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

·         School District experience preferred.

·         Interpreting and applying applicable laws, rules, regulations, and procedures;

·         Processing paperwork in an efficient manner;

·         Analyzing and interpreting data and information;

·         Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general                public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Positions in this class typically require: finger dexterity, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

 

Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.  Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.  Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Return To Work Retirees will have an hourly rate approximately 9% lower than listed below without falling below minimum wage.
